WASHINGTON, DC – Today, CTIA-The Wireless Association® President and CEO Steve Largent issued the following statement in response to Department of Transportation (DOT) Secretary Ray LaHood's distracted driving announcement:
"For more than twelve years, the wireless industry has been focused on educating consumers about the dangers of distracted driving. We continue to believe that the key to truly changing people's behavior involves uniform legislation, technology, and education. We also want to remind drivers to never text, email, or otherwise manually operate their wireless devices while driving. CTIA also encourages teens and their parents to watch our TV public service announcement that was produced in conjunction with the National Safety Council, 'On the Road, Off the Phone'."
