WASHINGTON, DC – In response to the U.S. Senate passing the Cell Phone Contraband Act (S. 1749) which would prohibit the possession or use of cell phones by Federal prisoners, CTIA-The Wireless Association® President and CEO Steve Largent issued the following statement:
"CTIA and the wireless industry applaud the Senate’s passage of this bill as we believe prisoners should not have access to contraband phones and those who supply them should be punished severely. We appreciate Senator Feinstein’s leadership in getting this important piece of legislation passed and we hope the House follows suit soon.”
