CTIA-The Wireless Association® Urges Congress to End IRS Mandates

September 26, 2008

Notes that a Majority of US Senators Want Repeal
of the Burdensome Mandate

WASHINGTON, DC – CTIA-The Wireless Association® President and CEO Steve Largent issued the following statement today regarding the ‘Modernize Our Bookkeeping In the Law for Employee's Cell Phone Act of 2008’ (S.2668):

“Today we reached a major milestone where a majority of US Senators agree that adopting S. 2668 is the right thing to do.  As we near the finish line for this Congress, I urge Congress to adopt S. 2668 and HR 5450, and end the arcane IRS rule that subjects consumers and their employers to burdensome requirements that have little or no bearing in today’s society.”

CTIA noted that 52 Senators have now co-sponsored Senator John Kerry’s bill to eliminate the IRS call log accounting rule.
