CTIA-The Wireless Association® Statement on Industry-Related Items in President Barack Obama’s Fiscal Year 2011 Budget

February 1, 2010

WASHINGTON, DC Today, CTIA-The Wireless Association® President and CEO Steve Largent issued the following statement in response to industry-related items in President Obama’s Fiscal Year 2011 budget.

"While we are still reviewing the President’s proposed budget, there are a few industry-related items that we wanted to highlight.  Specifically, we appreciate the President’s focus on removing cell phones from the IRS listed property rule and the clear commitment to making additional spectrum available for wireless broadband services.

“These matters have strong bi-partisan support and the inclusion of these provisions in the 2011 budget sends another strong signal to policymakers that the time has come to move on these issues.

“We look forward to working with the Administration and Congress to ensure the wireless industry remains the most efficient, competitive, and innovative in the world.”
